Press release (Oct 2022)

Since November 2021, the emerging Danish glam rock sensation known as SilverGlam has been making waves in the international glam scene with a series of highly acclaimed singles. Now, the moment fans have eagerly awaited has arrived – the release of their debut album, “The Glamrock Sessions vol. 1.”

This album boasts eleven tracks, each crafted with a profound and abiding love for the glam rock era of the 1970s. SilverGlam’s sound is so authentic, in both expression and attitude, that one might mistake them for a band hailing from that iconic period. As evidenced in the chorus of the opening track, “´74”: “Could it be like the past we knew. However, it goes, like a past in the shows. Whatever it feels, up on the heels. Knows ‘Nostalica 1974’. Looking for more!”

It’s clear that SilverGlam comfortably resides in that bygone era, with their songs exuding the same tantalizing drive and powerful riffs as the finest bands of the time. Remarkably, all these songs were penned in the 2020s by the Copenhagen-based band, except for one notable exception.

The exception is “Moonlight In Baskerville,” a song written by the renowned songwriting duo Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman, known as Chinnichap, who were prolific hitmakers in the 1970s for artists like Suzi Quatro, Mud, and notably, Sweet. Interestingly, Sweet opted for “Teenage Rampage” over “Moonlight In Baskerville” despite its immediate appeal.

For almost 50 years, “Moonlight In Baskerville” remained forgotten until SilverGlam unearthed it last year, recording it as their debut single. The original Sweet guitarist, Andy Scott, listened to the song and gave it his enthusiastic approval. Furthermore, several internet radio stations across the US and Europe also joined in praising the Danish glam band. Dandy’s Stardust Dive, based in California, was particularly thrilled with the song, propelling “Moonlight In Baskerville” to the top of the station’s weekly chart.

This stroke of fortune extended to SilverGlam’s subsequent four singles, including the Christmas track “No One Waits Till Christmas,” “´74,” “Lady Strange,” and as a gesture of appreciation, they granted Dandy’s Stardust Dive the privilege of selecting their next single. The chosen track was “Rebel Glam,” serving as another teaser for “The Glamrock Sessions vol. 1.”

SilverGlam’s unwavering devotion to glam rock is indisputable, with Henrik Botoft and Peter Peter’s enchanting guitar work dancing atop Henrik Christiansen’s melodic bass and Gert Ostrich’s vivacious, energetic drumming. The band’s unique use of both male and female vocals adds a potent and innovative dimension to the genre, as Elsebeth G. Jensen and Thomas Carstensen’s voices not only harmonize beautifully but also contribute to the band’s distinct identity.

SilverGlam boasts a lineup of highly experienced musicians. Peter Peter, a former member of Denmark’s first punk group Sods (later known as Sort Sol), has helmed the band Bleeder for several years, while Henrik Botoft has been a fixture in Hotel Hunger for a significant portion of his musical career. Gert Ostrich, the driving force behind SilverGlam, was a member of the beloved band City-X and has played with various acts, including Henrik Christiansen and Elsebeth G. Jensen in Hyperlove, which featured on the soundtrack of the film “Pusher II” (2004). Notably, Elsebeth G. Jensen is also an accomplished author with four novels currently in circulation: “Naamahssonner” (2019), “Children of Wisdom” (2019), “Saint Michael’s Sanatorium” (2021), and “Omphalos” (2022).

With such a formidable, diverse, and seasoned team at the helm, SilverGlam’s debut album, “The Glamrock Sessions vol. 1,” released on LP and CD (featuring the bonus track “No One Waits Till Christmas”), is poised for success. The album is already available on various streaming platforms, marking a significant milestone in the band’s journey.
